Library

The Medizinische Lesehalle (Medical Reading Room ), which is part of the University Library, resides in the neighboring house.

Opening Hours of the Library:

An appointment for visitors is possible by mail.

Visitors can visit the institute library by appointment on Thursdays from 08:00 - 12:00.

The institute library is a reference library, which means that the media can only be used within the library.

Fields/ Collections:

History of Medicine: includes fundamental subject matters, Ancient, Oriental and Asian Medical History.
Reference library: includes a stock of about 25,800 monographs, 2,700 journals, 37,000 reprints, 32 ongoing journals.

Catalogue:
There is a conventional card catalogue; since 1985 the stock is also registered in the general catalogue of the university library under the citation key (siglum) 0705: OPAC

Services:
Information desk, introductions, research help, photocopying, workplaces, internet access (only for library staff).

Donations

The institute is much obliged to all persons and institutions, who have accorded the library generous book donations as well as financial donations.

In the future the institute will also have to rely on donations in order to keep up its status as first-rate library. Information concerning giving donations can be received upon request from the directorate.
