Joint project: Individualized health care: Ethical, economic and legal implications for the German health care system

25.03.2020

Funded by: BMBF, FKZ 01GP1006A-C
Coordination: Prof. Dr. Georg Marckmann
Website: http://www.igv-ethik.de/index.html

Subproject A: Ethical Implications
Project Manager: Prof. Dr. Georg Marckmann
Research Associate: Sebastian Schleidgen

The project investigates the ethical implications of individualized health care (IHR) at the individual level (care of the individual patient) and the societal level (allocation of scarce resources). The attitudes, expectations and fears of patients towards IHR will be determined on the basis of two concrete case studies. In order to ensure the practical relevance of the results, concrete recommendations for the ethically justifiable research, development and application of individualised health care will be developed. In particular, ethically justified criteria and decision-making procedures will be developed in order to set priorities in the field of IHR and to determine appropriate cost-benefit ratios.
