Responsibilities

Anna Hirsch is a philosopher and medical ethicist. After her bachelor's degree in philosophy and history at the University of Augsburg, she completed her master's degree in philosophy at the University of Bonn and at the same time worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Science and Ethics (IWE). In her doctoral thesis "Autonomy and well-being. A philosophical investigation of their relationship in patient care", which she wrote as part of the Munich Graduate School for Ethics in Practice (MKEP), she pursued the question to what extent a differentiated examination of the concepts of autonomy and well-being can contribute to a better understanding and handling of medical ethical conflicts between obligations of autonomy and beneficence in patient care.
